Xinyu Liu new CEO MG Motor Europe

MG Motor Europe, the European branch of the Chinese MG, has a new CEO. Xinyu Liu is now responsible for all European activities of MG. Liu will start immediately in his new role today.

Xinyu Liu is not exactly an unknown within the ranks of MG and parent company SAIC Motor. He has worked for the company for twenty years, before joining MG as Executive Director of the Skoda division in the SAIC-Volkswagen joint venture. In March 2020 he started working in Europe as CEO of MG Motor France. There he expanded the French market into the best performing market for MG in mainland Europe. France currently has more than 120 MG Brandstores and the brand claims to be experiencing strong sales growth. For that success, Liu will be promoted within MG and can now lead Europe.

In any case, Liu puts a clear dot on the horizon for MG for this year. “In 2021 we tripled our sales in Europe. The challenge for 2022 is to triple this success again,” said the Chinese CEO. He also wants to expand the fifteen countries where MG is currently available in the future.

MG currently offers the ZS EV, EHS, Marvel R and MG5 Electric in mainland Europe. An interesting newcomer will be added later this year: the brand is working on a competitor for the Volkswagen ID3. This model will play an important role in the further European growth of the brand.
