Model Y Competitor Coming

The Xpeng P7, which is Xpeng’s most promising car to date, will be joined by an SUV-like model in the same class. In addition to that competitor of the Tesla Model Y, there is also a larger model in the barrel.
Xpeng’s modeling policy is sometimes a bit surprising. In 2019, for example, we were presented with the Xpeng P7, later followed by the slightly smaller and, in our opinion, also less appealing to the retina. The latter would come to the Netherlands, but will not do so for the time being after a somewhat lukewarm reception and serious production problems. That is why Xpeng is focusing here for now on the P7 and the recently announced G9, a large SUV.
A sister model is on the way for both models, according to reports from CNBC. That noted from the mouth of Xpeng boss Brian Gu that the P7 will be joined by ‘a model in an even larger market segment’ than that sedan. Then you know it: Xpeng is also rising in this class. A higher-up P7 will undoubtedly point its arrows emphatically at the Tesla Model Y, which Gu also reportedly mentions explicitly. This new car is planned for the first half of 2023, he says.
A new model will follow in the second half of next year. That car will be more or less the same size as the G9, which with its three rows of seats might be a nice alternative to the also new BYD Tang. It is still unknown what kind of body the sister model of that G9 will get. It is clear that it will not be a sedan, but a shape that, according to the big boss, has not been tried before by Xpeng. We wait patiently.
