Charging the iPhone 16 is faster than charging the iPhone 15. There were already rumors about this, but now there is more clarity.
This is how fast the iPhone 16 can charge
According to a new certification of the China Quality Certification Center All iPhone 16 models support up to 45W wired fast charging via the USB-C port.
X-User ShrimpApplePro shared the certification. It shows that all iPhone 16 models are tested at 5-15 volts and 3 amps, which equates to 45 watts. This is more than 50 percent faster than the iPhone 15 series, which maxes out at 27-29 watts.
There have been rumors that the iPhone 16 models would support faster charging, though Apple has never officially said anything about it. Apple did say that MagSafe can now deliver up to 25W when paired with the right charger, but nothing about wired charging.
Now, Apple doesn’t really say anything about wired charging. iPhones have been able to charge at over 25W for years, even almost 30W. However, Apple has only officially stated that you can fast-charge your iPhone with a 20W USB-C charger.
Battery replacement is now easier
Not only does the iPhone 16 charge faster, Apple has redesigned the entire internal design. This makes the new iPhone easier to repair. Maintenance and battery replacement are said to be easier and heat dissipation has also been improved. The latter also enables higher performance.
The change comes as the European Union is set to introduce new legislation in 2025 that will require Apple to make iPhone batteries easier to replace. For a long time, it looked like Apple wouldn’t comply, but that now seems to be the case. More information on the replaceability of the new battery is expected later this month when iFixit as always will test the repairability of the new iPhones.
