Techzle 12 will be in the shops from tomorrow or on your doorstep this week. What are you reading this week in our packed magazine?
This week there is extra attention for electric driving in Techzle, because number 12 is an extra thick theme number. With the growing range of electric cars, you often see them in our magazine, but this week we will go into it in more detail. With tests of electric cars and with interesting background stories.
For example, we put two interesting electric cars, mainly focused on urban use, side by side: the Fiat 500e and the Honda E. Both with the necessary classic influences in the appearance and yet very different. The Honda is a bit stronger and perhaps more noticeable, but it is also clearly more expensive than the Fiat. Time to find out whether that price difference can be justified a bit.
Another EV that still has quite a few electric cars in the price list is the brand new Mercedes-Benz EQA. ‘Affordable’ is of course relative, after all it remains a Mercedes-Benz. Time to take a look at what you get if you tick the cheapest option, the 250.
Another interesting question is whether BMW tackles it handily by giving the X3 not yet developed as an EV in the form of the iX3 an electric variant. That question is best answered by a similarly priced car next to it that was only intended with an electric powertrain: the Jaguar I-Pace.
All nice, that electrical stuff, but whether a crowd of enthusiasts will really quickly arise for it? We have already found one! In Blits Bezit we have a Tesla Roadster this time, the car that started it all for the brand. According to its owner, such an electric car is really something you can get a soft spot for.
We build a bridge between the present and the past with a nice report with our endurance tester, the Peugeot e-2008. He meets an old family member who differs from him in almost everything except the brand name: the 604. They have another special similarity: both are 136 hp strong and they do it without a manual gearbox. Wanted or not, we will of course not pass up an opportunity to admire the 604 from close by!
There is more petrol fun in Klokje Rond. This week there is a Mazda MX-5 on the bridge at Carrec Technocenter. An NC with no less than 4 tons on the counter. We trust the technology in advance, but the big question is of course how the body is doing after so much experience. Older MX-5s and other Mazdas wanted to get an extensive visit from the rust ghost. Let’s see if that is better done at the NC.
This and more can all be read in the latest Techzle, which will be in stores this week from Wednesday. Would you rather not go out? Order from the easy chair the latest number. Then it will be delivered to your door within two working days.
