We are approaching the end of the year, so it is almost time for performance appraisals. And the Ministry of Justice also keeps it with speed cameras. They are judged on their performance: how many fines do they hand out? These ten speed cameras are the best at what they do. These speed cameras flash the most.

The Ministry of Justice has published an overview of the number of fines issued per speed camera in the period May to August. One location stands out: the Goudse Poort in Gouda. It is a 50 km/h road with two lanes on each side of and to the A12. The speed camera towards the highway is at the top of the top ten, with 17,645 fines in four months. The camera that flashes the other way – to the center of Gouda – occupies fifth place, with 11,645 fines.
Nearly 300,000 fewer fines handed out than in 2020
The total number of fines across the Netherlands from May to August amounted to just under 3 million. That is almost 300,000 more than in the same period last year, which, according to the Ministry, has to do with the corona rules in force at the time. More than 2.5 million fines were for speeding. The police made 155,481 stops. Just over 2.8 million fines were the result of digital enforcement via speed cameras, mobile radar installations and section checks.
