The Porsche Taycan is the first electric Porsche, but certainly not the last. The first prototypes of the fully electric Porsche Macan were sent onto public roads last year. So it will take a while before the model can be ordered.
After many digital test kilometers and hundreds of laps on the test track in Weissach, it is time for the electric Porsche Macan to hit the open road. It should be tested in low and high temperatures, in dry and wet climates, in rain, wind and sunshine. It is also important for an electric car that it can be charged and driven thousands of times without any problems.
Successor Porsche Macan is coming next year
The electric Porsche Macan is not based on the current Macan. Next year there will be a successor to the compact SUV from Porsche, which will still be available with combustion engines. The Macan plug-in will be the first model to be installed on the new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform in 2023. It was developed jointly by Audi and Porsche.
With the 800-volt system of the Porsche Taycan
Little is known about the technology of the maximum 700 hp electric Macan. We do know that it has the same 800-volt system as the Porsche Taycan. In short, the advantages of this are: a shorter charging time, a lower battery weight, less heat in the drivetrain and a more compact construction. According to Porsche, the electric Macan will be “the sportiest model in its segment”.
