Are you planning to make money from your old Apple device? Then we have bad news, because your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch have become much less valuable.
Apple Trade In
Will you be getting a new Apple device soon? It is then easy to earn some money from your current iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch, because they are worth a certain amount. Apple has its own program for returning devices with Apple Trade In. With this service you can trade in your current device when purchasing a new Apple device. This way you can easily get a discount on your new iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.
Unfortunately, that discount became lower in January 2026 for most Apple devices. The trade-in value of all devices has been reduced at Apple Trade In. That’s bad news, because your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch have become much less valuable. Apple has not provided any explanation for the price reductions, although these involve adjustments for almost all devices. So in 2026 you will receive less money for sending your Apple device.

Lower resale value
Apple has lowered the resale value of the majority of all iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches. At Apple Trade In you can trade in a large number of previous devices for a discount on your new device. That discount will be lower in 2026 than in 2025, although how much Apple has reduced the trade-in value varies per device. The iPhone Pro Max and Apple Watch Ultra versions in particular have lost value. These are the differences:
| iPhone | Trade-in value 2025 | Trade-in value 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone 16 Pro Max | 780 euros | 725 euros |
| iPhone 16 Pro | 705 euros | 700 euros |
| iPhone 16 Plus | 540 euros | 510 euros |
| iPhone 16 | 510 euros | 505 euros |
| iPhone 15 Pro Max | 600 euros | 510 euros |
| iPhone 15 Pro | 555 euros | 495 euros |
| iPhone 15 Plus | 425 euros | 400 euros |
| iPhone 15 | 400 euros | 380 euros |
| iPad | Trade-in value 2025 | Trade-in value 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| iPad Pro | 750 euros | 725 euros |
| iPad Air | 505 euros | 500 euros |
| iPad | 215 euros | 215 euros |
| iPad mini | 330 euros | 315 euros |
| Apple Watch | Trade-in value 2025 | Trade-in value 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Watch Series 10 | 175 euros | 160 euros |
| Apple Watch Series 9 | 130 euros | 120 euros |
| Apple Watch Series 8 | 90 euros | 80 euros |
| Apple Watch Series 7 | 55 euros | 50 euros |
| Apple Watch Series 6 | 40 euros | 35 euros |
| Apple Watch SE 2 | 55 euros | 50 euros |
| Apple Watch Ultra 2 | 320 euros | 290 euros |
| Apple Watch Ultra | 265 euros | 225 euros |
Your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch will therefore become much less valuable in 2026. While the price difference for certain models is only five euros, other versions have become as much as fifty euros less valuable. That’s a significant difference, meaning you can get your next device with a lower trade-in discount. Are you going to get a new iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch? Then it is better not to hand in your current device to Apple itself.

Return Apple devices
Are you going to buy a new iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch and would you like to save on your next device? It is wise to trade in or resell your current device. At Apple Trade In, the trade-in value of all devices is usually lower than with other providers. With the recent price reductions, this difference is even greater, making it easier for you to resell or return your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch through other means.
For example, your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch are worth more Trade in. There you can sell your device at a higher price than you would get with Apple’s service. Do you have an old device at home that you no longer use? Then sell the device via Trade in, so that you make money with your unused device. See how much money you can make on each device here:
