YouTube wants to guide viewers more easily to the podcasts on its platform. There will be a new Podcasts button in the ‘Explore’ section, but that’s where YouTube’s effort stops for now.
YouTube Podcasts
Without YouTube having to make any effort, the popular video platform automatically received a strong supply of podcasts. It is often even the ideal place where you can watch your favorite podcasts in video form. And with the growth of podcasts as a format, Google also seems to be growing its importance for YouTube.
In the United States, therefore, a new page dedicated to podcast shows has been launched: YouTube.com/podcasts, know that 9To5Google. The page has not yet gone live with us, but it also seems logical that the function will be expanded to more countries at a later date. You can then find the podcasts section as a button in the Explore tab of YouTube. Once you navigate to it you will discover different categories such as: Popular Episodes, Featured, Popular Podcast Creators, Comedy, Sports and Music.
Limited ambition
But that’s where the innovation seems to stop for the time being. For example, there won’t be a separate podcast tab in YouTube like there was for Shorts, YouTube’s short vertical videos. In addition, no additional podcast controls are provided in the media player.

So it seems that the main purpose is to familiarize viewers better, but Google Podcasts remains the place of choice for podcasts in the first place. Only you can’t watch video material from your podcasts there. So you can ask yourself whether Google is getting the most out of its podcast strategy. For example, maybe there are ways for Google to combine YouTube’s podcast recordings with Google Podcasts?
