WhatsApp has launched a brand new feature that millions of users have been waiting for for years. With the introduction of the ‘secret code’ for chat lock, WhatsApp is taking the privacy and security of your conversations to the next level. That is how it works.
An extra layer of privacy
Earlier this year, WhatsApp introduced chat locks to help users protect their sensitive conversations. But today they are going one step further with the launch of the ‘secret code’. This is an extra layer of security to make your chats even harder to find, even if someone has access to your iPhone or you share your phone with others.
With the ‘secret code’ you can now set a unique password to protect your locked chats. This password is different from the password you use to unlock your phone, making your conversations even more secure.
Complete control over your privacy
With this new feature you have complete control over your privacy. You have the option to hide the ‘Locked Chats’ folder in your chat list, meaning these chats can only be found by entering your secret code in the search bar. If you prefer to keep them visible in your chat list, you can do that too. The process to lock a chat has also been simplified. Instead of going into the chat settings, all you have to do is press and hold on the chat to lock it.

Availability
This exciting new feature is rolling out today and will be available to all WhatsApp users worldwide in the coming months.
