It can always be more

The Danish Zenvo is in illustrious company, because to our knowledge this supercar manufacturer has never produced a car with less than 1,000 hp. Still, a hypercar with even more power is reportedly on the way.

Zenvo launched in 2008 with the ST1, which pumped out a whopping 1,104 horsepower from a 7.0-liter V8. That car was later called the TS1 and served as the basis for the TSR-S, the one with the huge movable rear wing. Thanks to two compressors, the same V8 now produces 1,194 hp, good for a 0-100 time of 2.8 seconds.

In 2018 we were allowed to ride with such a TSR-S (GTO 3/2018) and we can assure you that it is a downright bizarre device, even from the passenger seat. No one is used to that much violence. The latest rumors show that even more is always possible. The British Top Gear – which by the way did not have such a good start with Zenvo – spoke with board chairman Jens Sverdrup and noted that a completely new Zenvo will be presented next year. Unlike the TSR-S, the TS1 does not serve as the basis here, but it is a completely new model.

The car is reportedly also getting a completely new and ‘own’ engine under the hood, a V12 this time. That was reportedly a matter of ‘now or never’, because in a few years you will no longer have to arrive in hypercarland with such an engine. Thanks to two electric turbos, it is already good for about 1,200 hp, but Zenvo finds that not enough. That is why the help of electrical power is called in, with which a power between 1,500 and 1,800 hp should be possible. An eight-speed automatic transmission should transfer all that power to the rear wheels.

A four-wheel drive model is still being considered, because that would fit well with one of the two versions of this new car. A more GT-esque hypercar, perhaps something like McLaren’s Speedtail, would qualify for the integral drive. In addition, there will be a version that is more focused on track use, although this extremist will also be street legal. In its lightest form, this monster should weigh no more than 1,250 kg, a weight that the Lotus ‘add lightness’ Emira can still suck on.

Now we don’t count on a price tag in Emira regions either. Exact amounts are of course not mentioned, but Zenvo focuses on the wafer-thin top layer of car land and guarantees maximum exclusivity for people who already have everything else. So count on a price that is well over a million. If it may or must be a little less, it is good to know that Zenvo also hopes to make a second model on the same basis. That might be a slightly less alien supercar, which with a V8 would be a worthy successor to the first models of Zenvo.
