A standard Audi RS3 not fast enough? Then a detour to the chip tuner is enough, but now you can also go to Audi itself. As a Performance Edition, the Audi RS3 is slightly more powerful than usual, but there is more to it.
The Audi RS3 Performance Edition distinguishes itself in the first place with its power, although a ‘boost’ from 400 to 407 hp is not immediately earth-shattering. It does mean that this is the first new RS3 that has more horsepower than its predecessor, so that’s a nice bonus. Another symbolic thing: the top speed is 10 km/h higher than with a regular RS3 and thus he reaches 300 km/h. The ‘gentlemens agreement’, which dictates that German cars can travel at a maximum speed of 250 km/h, seems to be finally in tatters.
The torque of the RS3 remains the same at 500 Nm, but is available for a little longer. The RS3 Performance has the adaptive dampers that are normally available at an extra cost as standard and is fitted with Pirelli P Zero ‘Trofeo R’ tires. They are mounted on 19-inch ‘Motorsport’ wheels in dark gray, which in turn provide a nice view of the ceramic brakes that are standard in this case. Audi likes to underline in view of the images that it is rather easy to drift with such an RS3, although it is not entirely clear why the four black rings are not just neatly lined up.
On the outside you have to look very closely to recognize the Performance Edition. Audi speaks of black logos and a black sports exhaust system, but those are available and popular options on the regular RS3. The interior has the normally optional bucket seats as standard and we see all kinds of blue accents on the left and right.
As a bonus, there is one more visible feature: the digital headlights project a finish flag and the number ‘300’ onto the street. Yes. The Audi RS3 Performance Edition is available as a sedan and as a Sportback, but to a limited extent. There will be only 300 copies in total.
