Afghanistan is probably not the first country that comes to mind when you think of supercars, but that needs to change. Meet the Entop Mada 9, a voluptuous sports car developed and built in Afghanistan.

If Afghanistan has been in the news lately, it has almost always been about the Taliban regime and its consequences for society. Now Afghanistan is in the news in a completely different way, although the Taliban also has something to do with it. In Afghanistan, the ‘Minister of Higher Education’ has pulled the curtain on the Mada 9.

The Mada 9 is the creation of local design studio Entop and ATVI, the Afghanistan Technical Vocational Institute. According to international media, a team of about 30 engineers worked on the car for five years. This means that the development was initiated before the Taliban took power in the country. Extensive technical details are not known, although we do know that the Mada 9 has a 1.8 petrol engine that comes from a Toyota Corolla that has been retuned and is located behind the front seats. Photos and videos – including one called Woman Gives Life – on Entop’s social channels show that the model is built around a tubular frame.

Entop CEO Mohammed Rizo Ahmadi tells Afghan TOLO News that he hopes the Mada 9 can improve Afghanistan’s image and thanks not only his business partners, but the entire Afghan people for all the support. The Mada 9 is not yet fully ready for production. There is also talk in various media about the possible arrival of an electric variant.
