Are you getting rid of your iPhone or have you switched to another carrier? Then the SIM card has to be removed. But how does that actually work?

A SIM card is a card with a chip that is in a telephone. This card allows you to make calls and/or use the internet with your smartphone. You get the SIM card when you take out a subscription or when you buy a prepaid card from a provider. If you get rid of your phone or change provider, you have to remove the SIM card from the phone. But how do you actually do that? The SIM card is hidden in the iPhone.

Remove the SIM card from the iPhone as follows:

  • First turn off the phone. To do this, press the Snooze button for a few seconds. This button is located on the right side, or on top of the device.
  • On the screen, slide the slider over the text ‘Turn off’. So slide from left to right.
  • Take the supplied pin (or a paperclip if you have lost the pin) with which you can open the SIM card holder.
  • The SIM card tray is located to the right of the iPhone. You can recognize it by a square with a hole in it. Insert the pin into the opening (the small hole).

  • Press the pin a little through, and wiggle it back and forth until the holder pops out.
  • Pull the entire holder out of the iPhone.
  • Remove the SIM card from the holder and, if necessary, insert a new SIM card.
  • Put the SIM card holder back in the same position. With the round opening on the left. The holder only fits in one way.
