The Skoda Kodiaq is Skoda’s first and largest SUV. This equally popular and spacious model received a facelift earlier this year, with the front and rear facades being radically adapted.
Before you verbally abuse us: no, the design changes are not very rigorous. It is emphatically not a huge change of course, but it is still a facelift in which just a little more changed than usual. This is mainly due to the rear. In nine out of ten facelifts, the butt gets at most differently classified light units, but at Skoda we can actually also note a different shape for the light clusters. That was also quite easy, because the bottom of the taillights connect directly to the bumper. A set of new rear screens could therefore be omitted, while the Kodiaq with the notch at the bottom of the light units is quite clearly different than before.
Everything just different
At the front we see changes on a similar level. The headlights are smaller and are slightly flattened on the inside where they connect to the grille. Incidentally, that connection also takes place at a different angle, because the grille is somewhat narrowed at the top and fans out towards the bottom. Smaller light units are made possible by full-LED lighting, which is now also standard with the Kodiaq. There is still a fog lamp mounted directly below the headlamp, but that too has a different shape.
What is special is that the hood also looks slightly different. The ‘bite’ that this hood takes from the top of the grille is just a bit wider and less deep.
While the headlights shrank, the grille grew. The railing now extends deeper into the bumper, an effect that is further enhanced by the disappearance of the open ‘slot’ under the grille. From now on, the entire hole is filled with bars and framing. The grille forces the cooling opening at the bottom of the bumper to restrict, where that part was immediately drawn differently.
