Tesla Model Y with seven seats unveiled

Tesla expands the capabilities of the Model Y with a third row of seats. The larger brother of the Model 3 is thus a real seven-seater, although you should not expect plenty of space in the back.

It is well known that the Tesla Model Y also comes as a seven-seater. Topman Elon Musk announced last fall that production would start in 2020. Now Tesla has shared a new image of the third row of seats and placed the option in the configurator. As can be seen in the photo below, the Model Y is definitely not the most spacious in the back because of its length and sloping roofline. In practice, however, it can probably be a solution for families with small children who can take a seat in the third row of seats.

Tesla Model Y 7 seats

To get to the two rear seats, you fold the second row of seats partially flat. Anyone who climbs over it can take a seat on the rear seat that folds down into two parts and will also find two cup holders in the middle. Incidentally, the second row of seats in the seven-seater version of the Model Y – in contrast to the five-seater – can be moved slightly forward. That does not seem like a superfluous luxury to us, since the photo above does not seem to leave any space for legs or feet. With both rows of seats flat, there is said to be still 1,900 liters of luggage space to be used. How much space there is with all seat rows up is not yet known.

If you want a Model Y with seven seats, you have to pay an extra € 3,200. The Model Y will be available in the Netherlands this year. Possibly in the beginning only with five seats, but the seven-seater must also come this way this year.
