Apple Watch series 10 may have a larger screen and thinner case

The 10th generation Apple Watch will be presented this fall. Just like with watchOS 10, Apple might want to release an Apple Watch X with a new design. According to reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the series 10 would have a larger screen.

Since the Apple Watch Series 7, the smart watch has been available in 41 mm and 45 mm sizes. For the tenth generation this would be adjusted again to probably 45 mm for the smaller version and 49 mm for the larger variant.

Larger screen for Apple Watch series 10

In the history of the Apple Watch, the smart watch has already had the necessary screen sizes. It once started with a choice between 38 mm and 42 mm, then with the series 4 this was adjusted to 40 mm and 44 mm. Since the Apple Watch series 7, Apple has used 41 mm and 45 mm.

The Apple Watch 10th generation will reportedly receive another adjustment in the screen size, probably to 45 mm for the smaller version and 49 mm for the larger variant. This means that the screen of the largest Apple Watch series 10 will be as large as the Apple Watch Ultra.

A larger screen does not necessarily mean that the Apple Watch will become a lot larger. On the contrary, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, the size of the cabinet remains more or less the same. By using even thinner screen edges, Apple can place a larger display in the case of the smart watch.

Apple Watch

It seems that Apple has started a new trend with the arrival of the iPad Pro with M4 chip. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple wants to provide more products with a thinner design. The next in line would be the Apple Watch series 10. According to Kuo, this version has a thinner case, which is mainly due to a new strap system.

Magnetic straps

The mounting system for the Apple Watch straps has remained the same since the introduction of the watch. By sliding them into the slot you can click them into place in the middle. This may be changed to a magnetic closure on the Watch X.

You will probably still have to tuck the straps into a cutout, but they will be held in place magnetically. This creates more space within the Apple Watch, because the mounting and click system no longer needs to be present. This is more efficient and the freed up space can be used better. The disadvantage is that older straps will probably no longer fit.
