Voyah, the premium label of the Chinese giant Dongfeng, is coming to Europe. The brand announced this today on its Weibo channel. Voyah will deliver the electric SUV Free in Norway this year. It is not yet clear whether the European variant will differ from its Chinese counterpart.

Norway is a gateway to Europe for more Chinese EV manufacturers. Nio, which is roughly in the same corner as Voyah, has also started his European conquest drive there, as has Xpeng. So now Voyah joins in. The caption of the announcement is in Chinese, but according to the website cnevpost.com the European version of the Voyah Free will make its debut in June. Voyah also opens a flagship store in Oslo. The first deliveries to customers should then take place in the fourth quarter. According to CEO Lu Fang, it will not stop at Norway: Voyah plans to expand to the rest of Europe.

The Voyah Free is not a sick little car, by the way. The SUV is 4.95 meters long and 1.95 wide, with a wheelbase of just three meters. That is approximately the size of the Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, among others. At the front is a wide grille surmounted by an LED strip that continues into the headlights. In line with current trends, the Free has an LED light bar at the rear that runs the entire width of the car. Inside, the Chinese variant of the Free has a large screen that stretches across the entire width of the dashboard à la Hyperscreen.

Voyah also supplies the Free in China with a range extender, but that version will most likely not come to Europe. The fully electric powertrain is much more interesting: with 680 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque, you can easily get away from the traffic light. The SUV is at 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, and the cake is finished at 200 km/h. The range is 500 kilometers, but please note: that is according to the NEDC cycle. There is a good chance that this figure is actually much lower. In China, the Free has a starting price of about €50,000. It is not yet clear how much the SUV will cost in Europe.
