With the CopyID app you can now make a secure passport copy even easier

Especially on holiday, it often happens that a company asks for a copy of your passport. With the CopyID app you can easily edit such a copy to hide fraud-sensitive data. Thanks to an update, this government app is even easier to use.

CopyID ensures secure copies

The idea is simple: you take a photo of your passport, driver’s license or identity card and delete privacy-sensitive information. This prevents you from becoming a victim of identity fraud, which is a lot more difficult if important information has been crossed out. For example, a scooter rental company in Spain or the local surf school has nothing to do with your citizen service number. In some cases, you can also hide your photo.

CopyID

With CopyID this was already easy to arrange, but the app has become slightly more advanced since the last update. That starts with a renewed design, which gives it a beautiful and simple appearance. Take a photo or choose one from your camera roll and you can start editing.

Easy to save and share

For example, you can put a watermark over it. Enter who the text is for and this will appear on top of the copy along with the date. This is an extra way to make a safe copy so that it is no longer useful to malicious parties.

What is new is that you can save such a copy afterwards, even without a watermark. This way you don’t have to edit a new photo of your ID card for every copy, but quickly reuse a photo that you have taken. Moreover, sharing such an edited ID card is easier. You now do this via the standard share menu of iOS. Mail it to yourself, for example, so that you always have a digital option in addition to a printed version.
