We have already written about most of the new features of iOS 26 in recent weeks, but you probably missed these 4.
4 features in iOS 26 that you missed
We expect Apple to release iOS 26.1 to the general public next week. That means that Apple Intelligence becomes available in Dutch. The operating system will then immediately receive many new functions. But there is a good chance that you have also missed features in the current version of iOS 26. We show you 4 of them!
1. Reduce loud noises
The new Reduce Loud Noises option compresses the volume level of your iPhone’s speaker. This softens loud sounds while preserving quieter details. If you often switch between apps or videos with vastly different volume levels, it’s worth enabling this option to improve your listening experience. You can find the function here:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap ‘Hear and feel’;
- Scroll down;
- Turn on Reduce Loud Noises.

2. Select text in Messages
There’s also a new feature for the Messages app in iOS 26 that you may have missed. When you press and hold a speech bubble, a new ‘Select’ option now appears next to the familiar copy and comment options. With this function it is finally possible to select part of the text in the speech bubble. Apple solves one of the most persistent frustrations with the Messages app.

3. See how long your iPhone still needs to charge
Instead of waiting or checking the battery percentage every few minutes, iOS 26 lets you see exactly how long it will take for your iPhone to reach 100 percent charge. Open Settings, tap Battery, and you’ll see the estimated time remaining next to the charging indicator.

4. Block sensitive material in FaceTime
In iOS 26, you may also have missed the Sensitive Content Warning feature for FaceTime video calls. When nudity is detected, the FaceTime video will pause and a nude content warning will appear. You enable the function as follows:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap ‘Privacy & security’;
- Scroll almost all the way to the bottom;
- Tap ‘Sensitive material warning’;
- Enable the option.
