Instead of the iPhone 17 Plus, the iPhone 17 Air appears, which according to rumors becomes the thinnest iPhone ever. Apple is coming for the first time in years with a completely new design for the iPhone. These are five reasons to get the iPhone 17 Air later!
1. Housing is very thin
The most important change with the iPhone 17 Air is without a doubt the housing. According to rumors, this will be the thinnest iPhone ever, with a ‘thickness’ of only 5.5 millimeters. For comparison: with the iPhone 16 that is 7.83 millimeters. Due to the new and much thinner design, the device will probably also become enormous light. Are you looking for an iPhone that is really different? Then the iPhone 17 Air is the device that you have to get later.
2. Improved screen
The thinner housing of the iPhone 17 Air has an advanced screen. Apple brings the Always-on screen to the regular iPhones for the first time this year, so that the function is no longer exclusive for the PRO models. At Always-on the screen of the iPhone-as the name suggests-always remains on. This way the clock remains visible, even if you don’t use the iPhone. For this function, Apple increases the refresh rate to 120Hz, while with the iPhone 16 that is still 60Hz.
3. Lower price
The iPhone 17 Air will be a completely new device, but will soon not (long) be the most expensive iPhone you can get. It is expected that the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be much more expensive. The iPhone 17 Air will probably get about the same starting price as the iPhone 16 Plus, which you currently bring in for € 889. For a similar price you will buy the thinnest iPhone ever in a few months.
4. A19 Pro chip
The fact that the iPhone 17 Air becomes cheaper than iPhone 17 Pro (Max) is reportedly not reflected in the processor. According to rumors, the iPhone 17 AIR runs on the A19 Pro chip, which is also expected in the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This processor comes with 12 GB of memory, while with the current iPhones that is still 8 GB. The extremely thin iPhone therefore does not respond to computing power, but even gets the latest chip.
5. Colors
Apple releases the iPhone in a series of new colors every year and that is no different with the iPhone 17 Air. The phone probably gets different colors than the regular iPhone 17, because it concerns different enclosures. You can probably get the iPhone 17 Air in the colors light blue, black, silver and gold. The MacBook Air 2025 is already available in a light blue version, the same color probably comes to the iPhone 17 Air.
