The Rimo S1 consists of two channels and one receiver. You put the receiver in your iPhone, one channel you clamp on the coat of the interviewee and one on that of the interviewer. During the admission, both people can now talk freely without having to change microphones. You can of course also use the two microphones to record two different sounds at the same time.

Two different versions

The 7RYMS RIMO S1 is available in two versions, namely UC and LN. These abbreviations are derived from USB-C and Lightning and it also includes the only difference between the two versions. The receiver of the UC version fits on an iPhone with a USB C connection, that of the LN version on an (older) iPhone with a Lightning connection. So pay attention to this before you make a purchase!

Clear sound and a good connection

The most important thing about a microphone is of course that the sound that you take with it sounds nice and clear. That is good with the 7 -MYS RIMO S1! Speech in particular is highly passed on. The Rimo S1 is less suitable for loud music. That is because the maximum SPL (Sound Pressure Level or sound pressure level) is 100 dB. This quickly causes distortion of the sound at higher volumes.

The frequency response of the microphone is 80 Hz – 20 kHz. In general, the human hearing range is around 20 Hz – 20 kHz. This means that only the lowest tones are lost. This also helps that the microphone is less suitable for music, especially when there is a lot of layer in it. For speech, however, it is no problem at all!

The wireless connection of the wireless microphone is of course also important. That connection is established via the 2.4 GHz frequency band and that works completely fine. Just make sure that no one stands between the channels and the recipient, because then it may happen that the connection sometimes falls away. In practice, however, this is no problem if you keep an eye on it.

Long battery life

Furthermore, the battery life is of course also important. After all, you don’t want you to have to interrupt an interview halfway because the battery is empty. That is also good at the Rimo S1! The 7RYMS RIMO S1 UC lasts up to 16 hours. This is due to the transmitters that both have a battery of 95 mAh and to the charging case that contains a battery with a capacity of 400 mAh.

You charge the case via the USB-C port at the bottom. At the right under the logo the percentage that indicates how far the charging is advanced. Fully charging takes about 2 hours. The channels charge when you put them in the case, but you can also connect them separately via USB C to a charger. When you have connected the receiver to your iPhone, you can still connect a charger or power bank via the USB C port to charge your iPhone.

The charging case is fairly large with 85.5 x 63 x 29 mm, but still fits in your pocket. The case is nice and light by using plastic. Only the hinges of the valve do not feel too firmly, so that the question arises how future -proof they are.

Conclusion: 7RYMS RIMO S1 UC

The 7RYMS RIMO S1 UC excels in wireless recording of speech and is therefore very suitable for content makers, regardless of whether it concerns interviews or podcasts, for example. The two channels are very useful because you do not have to pass on a microphone when your conversation partner speaks after you.

The wireless connection is good and the battery life is even more than sufficient. In case you have a somewhat older iPhone, it is good that you can also opt for a version with Lightning connection (the LN version). Are you looking for an all-in-one microphone with a higher frequency response that perfectly absorbs both speech and music, then this might not be the best choice. But for an amount of 49.95 euros you do get a very practical dual-channel wireless microphone that is ideal for interviews!
