8 reasons to get the Apple Watch Ultra 3 in September
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 has been in stores since 2023. Now two years later, Apple sometimes thinks it’s time for an update. That is why in addition to the new iPhones in September there will probably also be a new Apple Watch Ultra. This Apple Watch Ultra 3 gets a few nice improvements and new functions. We put the eight most important innovations for you.
1. New chip
The current Apple Watch Ultra has an S9 chip. Last year the Apple Watch Series 10 received the S10 chip. This chip is almost the same in terms of performance, but is a bit smaller. If the ultra also gets this chip, there is a bit more room for other things, such as a larger battery.
There are also rumors that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will get an S11 chip. Perhaps Apple can introduce even more new functions.
2. Larger screen
In a recent beta of iOS 26, the new resolution of the Apple Watch Ultra 3 has surfaced. The resolution is 422 × 514 pixels and somewhat higher than that of the Ultra 2 (410 × 502). This is probably because the black edges around the screen are getting a bit thinner again. This allows the housing to remain the same, but you have more screen space.
3. Connect to a satellite
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 becomes Apple’s first smartwatch with a satellite connection. Just like with the iPhone 14 (and newer) you can still send messages without a mobile range.
4. Better Always-On
The series 10 has an always-on screen on which you can also see a moving second guide. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will almost certainly also get this upgrade. With the current Apple Watch Ultra 2, the second guide disappears when the watch jumps on the Always-on screen.
5. Kijkhoek gets better
The viewing angle is also taken over at the Apple Watch Ultra 3. According to rumors, the brightness is up to 40 percent better when you look at the watch at an angle.
6. 5G is coming
Instead of 4G, Apple switches to a special version of 5G at the Apple Watch Ultra 3. It is a slightly different version of 5G especially for wearables that do not need high speed, but is still faster than 4G.
7. Charging faster
You can already charge the Apple Watch Series 10 to eighty percent if you put the watch on the charger for about thirty minutes. At the Apple Watch Ultra 2 that will cost you an hour. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will probably get the charging speed of the Apple Watch Series 10.
8. Blood pressure monitor
Apple has been working on a blood pressure function for the Apple Watch for a while, but whether it is ready for the Ultra 3 on time remains exciting. However, do not expect exact numbers like with a traditional blood pressure monitor. Instead, the Watch keeps an eye on your blood pressure for a longer period of time and you get a signal if that pattern is discovered over time.
