An iPhone seized in England when a boy was arrested turned out to be a taser that can produce no less than 650,000 volts. This shocking device is also known as the FRiPhone!
An iPhone used as a taser
The boy’s device that has been seized, looks exactly like an iPhone. A press of the side button, however, reveals that it’s not an iPhone, but a taser disguised as an iPhone. Tasers are banned in England. It even carries a maximum prison sentence of ten years, so such a disguise works well there.
The FRiPhone comes from the United States and is legally sold there as a self-defense tool. The device not only gives a shock, but is also equipped with an alarm and a flashlight. It is as yet unknown how the device ended up in England.

FriPhone sold through Amazon
The police in England have not released a photo of the FriPhone, but if you google it you will find out that the device is available in America through Amazon, among others. The device is currently there, by the way out of stock.
Amazon America also sells all kinds of other variants: tasers disguised as a key ring or as a flashlight, for example. Incidentally, all forms of tasers are also prohibited in the Netherlands. There is a fine of 700 euros.
Shocking, but not as dangerous as it seems
Although a device capable of producing 650,000 volts of electricity may seem very dangerous, in practice this is probably not the case. High voltages are meaningless without a high current (amps).
The iPhone taser will be able to deliver a painful shock, but it is by no means as effective as a real electroshock weapon. Volts hurt, but amps kill.
