More angular

In the Netherlands, the Toyota Hilux is the only and therefore also the largest pick-up from Toyota that you can buy. In the United States, among others, the Hilux has two bigger brothers: the Tacoma and the Tundra. The first will soon be renewed and Toyota is already warming up for its arrival.
The Toyota Tacoma has been the bigger brother of the Hilux since the mid-1990s. The current model dates from 2015, so it will last for about eight years. Previous generations of the Tacoma had a career of about ten years, so it is questionable whether Toyota will actually completely renew the Tacoma and thus help it to a new generation, or whether the brand will just give the model a very thorough facelift. Although the Tacoma’s window and door section on patent plates previously surfaced by AutoWeek corresponds to that of the current one – and that usually indicates a facelift – the new Tacoma has a round in polats of a square fuel door. That sounds like a trivial difference, but we rarely see such a change with a facelift.
The Tacoma will have a more angular design than the current model, complete with differently shaped headlights with flares, square wheel arches and a straight front. The new Tacoma will look more like its bigger brother, the Tundra. The new Toyota Tacoma therefore seems to be the production version of the electric pick-up that Toyota showed at the end of 2021 together with an extensive range of other study models. Whether there will also be an electric version of the Tacoma remains to be seen. The new Tacoma will not come to Europe, by the way. In 2022, Toyota sold just under 240,000 Tacomas in the United States, more than twice as much as the Tundra (105,000 units).
