Can the umpteenth thirteen in a dozen electric SUV no longer arouse your interest? Then we now have an electric car on offer that might warm you up. This is the Space of the new German e.Volution. The e.Volution Space is long, narrow, relatively original in design and should last up to four times longer than a regular car.

e.Volution is a start-up set up in 2021 in Aachen, Germany, that presented an electric shuttle bus a little less than a year ago: the Meta. However, the company also has the ambition to market an electric passenger car. In the form of this Space, e.Volution gives away exactly what it wants to achieve in the automotive field.

The e.Volution Space is an electric SUV-like that looks slightly different from the high-legged electric SUV coil that you have been flying around in recent years. It is presented as a 4.09 meter long five-seater and in a 4.92 meter long form with space for up to eight occupants. Both versions are relatively narrow with their width of 1.92 meters – including side mirrors. There is a 40 kWh battery in the bottom of the Space and, according to its creators, the Space has a range of 750 kilometers. 750 kilometers from a 40 kWh battery? Not quite. The Space has a range extender on board that recharges the battery pack. The e.Volution travels an extremely modest 150 kilometers on electrical power alone. The range extender also sips LPG instead of petrol.

The German vision of the future has a co-steering and counter-steering rear axle, a ‘modular interior’ and a roof that, according to e.Volution, can optionally be covered with solar cells. The back cover should be easy to remove. Whoever pulls the seats out of the Space, according to the start-up, has access to a huge cargo space. The Space has a payload of 650 kilos, can tow up to 3,500 kilos and weighs a particularly hefty 2,800 kilos.

But there’s more. e.Volution reports that it envisions a future where you have the Space thoroughly refreshed every five years. The battery pack is replaced by a new one and the old battery is given a second life in the world of non-automotive energy storage. According to e.Volution, the Space will therefore last four times longer than a traditional passenger car.
