WhatsApp is working on a new feature that makes it easier to share photos and videos on your iPhone. This is going to change!
Send photos via WhatsApp
Good news if you regularly share photos and videos via WhatsApp, because this will soon be much easier. The messaging service is working on a new format that will make sending images and videos much faster. This is evident from a new test version, which is now being rolled out to the first users. In this version, WhatsApp removes a number of steps when sharing photos and videos.
When sending media files, you will see a modified menu in the updated version of WhatsApp. In this menu you can directly select multiple images and videos to send. Have you chosen all the photos and videos? Then you can send them immediately afterwards. In the current version of WhatsApp you will first see a screen to edit the files, but that will no longer be the case.
Share images more easily
You no longer have to click through with the next version of WhatsApp if you do not want to edit the photos and videos. That saves one step, because files are rarely edited in the app itself. Do you always share photos and videos in the highest quality on WhatsApp? Then you can enable ‘HD’ when selecting all media files in the gallery. All higher quality images and videos are then sent in HD.
WhatsApp also makes it easier to add a caption when sharing photos and videos. While you currently have to add a caption for each file separately, this will soon be possible for all shared media at once. This way, one caption appears, even if you share multiple photos and videos at the same time. That is very useful, especially if all images and videos are about a similar event.

Another small change that WhatsApp is implementing in the next version can be seen in the list of all conversations. This list shows how many media files a contact has shared with you in a conversation. This way you can see at a glance what type of messages you have received. Sharing photos and videos via WhatsApp therefore becomes much easier and clearer.
Thanks to the new test version of WhatsApp, we know that the company is working on adjustments for sharing photos and videos. It is not yet known when the messaging service will roll out the new features to everyone. It usually takes a number of weeks or months before the final version is released. We will probably not see the updated gallery on the iPhone until early 2025.
