Electrogenic Electric Mini

For an electric Mini you can of course knock on Mini’s door. But do you find the classic Minis from a few decades back much more charming? Even then you can happily buzz around electrically with your English icon thanks to the English Electrogenic.

Electrogenic is an English company that is happy to give classics a long future. You can already turn to Electrogenic for ‘plug-and-play’ EV conversions for the Land Rover Defender, old Porsches 911, Jaguar E-type, Triumph Stag and even for the Citroën DS. Electrogenic now adds the primal Mini to that list of automotive legends.

The Electrogenic electric powertrain comes ready-made on a new subframe that replaces the old one with the petrol engine on it. The electric motor is 61 hp and 135 Nm strong and that undoubtedly makes the classic Englishman a lot spicier. The electric motor draws its zest for life from a modest 20-kWh battery, which, like the electric motor, is mounted on the subframe. The electric primal Mini squeezes out – purely in the city – a range of just under 130 kilometers. The combined range is not mentioned by the English for the time being. The charging port is behind a cover that Electrogenic has housed in its self-manufactured grille. Do you regret the EV conversion? Then you can replace your old subframe with petrol heart relatively easily, according to Electrogenic. If you saved it, of course.

The conversion is not cheap, by the way. Electrogenic asks for more than €17,000 for its EV hardware. Excluding taxes and excluding assembly.
