Practical consumption: how economical is the Peugeot 2008 PureTech (2013-2019)?

The Peugeot 2008 was a trendsetter and one of the first models in the later popular B-SUV segment. Although the new Peugeot 2008 appeared on the market in 2019, we are now looking at the original model and specifically at versions with a PureTech petrol engine. After all, these are interesting opportunities. Is the fuel consumption just as interesting?

Already at its introduction, the Peugeot 2008 was available with the naturally aspirated 1.2 PureTech three-cylinder with 82 hp. Those who wanted something more powerful got a four-cylinder, the also naturally breathing 1.6 VTI. This was replaced in 2015 by the turbocharged 1.2 PureTech 110, of which variants with 130 hp also appeared later. With these turbo engines, the 2008 delivers appealing performance, although the PureTech engine does not appear to be a party for everyone in practice.

Consumption Peugeot 2008 PureTech turbo

To begin with, we take a closer look at the turbocharged 1.2 PureTech, lumping the 110 and 130 hp versions together. Owners of cars with these engines who keep track of their consumption in the AutoWeek Consumption Monitor score an average consumption of 1 in 16.3 (6.2 l/100 km).

The worst value comes from a PureTech 110 and is an average of 1 in 15.1, measured between September 2017 and November 2022 and over a distance of 106,663 kilometers. The most economical PureTech is also a 110 hp variant, with which the driver drove 27,360 kilometers in two and a half years and achieved a consumption of 1 in 19.1 (5.2 l/100 km).

Use PureTech 82

The turboless PureTech engine may feed 28 horses less, but this is hardly reflected in the fuel consumption. On average, owners with this engine achieve 1 in 16 (6.3 l/100 km). However, the consumption values with this engine are closer together, between 1 in 15.5 (6.5 l/100 km) and 1 in 16.6 (6 l/100 km).

Whichever petrol engine you choose, the Peugeot 2008 is not particularly economical. Owners of a Citroën C4 Cactus drive an average of 1 in 17.5 with their PureTech 82, users of a C3 PureTech 110 come close to 2008 drivers. Drivers of a newer Volkswagen T-Cross 1.0 TSI show more favorable consumption figures.
