After individuals, now also entrepreneurs

Claims foundations that hope to get compensation from car manufacturers for owners of cheat diesels have, for the time being, focused on private owners. Now there is a claims foundation for entrepreneurs with cheating diesels.
Seven years later, the sjoemeldiesel scandal still rages. Several consumer lawsuits are still pending against car manufacturers seeking damages. If it is up to the MKB-Claim mass claim foundation, a case of duped entrepreneurs will now also be added. The foundation asks companies and entrepreneurs to register.
In recent years, there have been several mass claims targeting consumers. MKB-Claim works together with one of them, Stichting Car Claim. The foundation previously worked together with the Consumers’ Association and won proceedings against Volkswagen and its dealers. An appeal is still pending in that case.
SME Claim is aimed at companies that purchased a new or used diesel car or van between 2009 and September 2019. “Previous court rulings are positive,” says director Stef Smit of MKB-Claim. “It has already been decided for consumers that they are entitled to €3,000 for a new diesel car and €1,500 for a second-hand model. We expect similar amounts for companies.”
