Eccentrica Lamborghini Diablo Restomod

Model name ‘Diablo’ makes the heart of many car enthusiasts who grew up in the eighties and nineties beat faster. The Italian company Eccentrica is now bringing back the Lamborghini Diablo in a special way.

Lamborghini revived the Countach in 2021 with the Huracán-based Countach LPI-800-4. This time Countach successor Diablo is in the spotlight. The Italian Eccentrica comes with a so-called resto mod based on the mighty Diablo. The Lamborghini Diablo therefore receives pieces of modern technology, but is visually brought back more to the eighties.

Eccentrica.

The ‘Eccentrica’ is a creation of a start-up of the same name that was founded by Lamborghini collector, driver and furniture tycoon Emanuel Colombini. Together with design agency BorromeodeSilva and companies such as Pirelli and Brembo, a lot of work has been done in recent months on the prototype visible in these photos. The donor car is a Diablo from the early 1990s that has been modified a bit. According to Eccentrica, next to the windscreen and the front doors, almost nothing is original anymore. We do indeed see modified bumpers, side skirts, side mirrors and, in addition to a thoroughly modified aft deck, also a considerably renovated buttocks. Even the rear side windows are different from those of the donor car. Those who look through their winpers may have to think of the Diablo GTR, although the air scoops on the back are clearly a reference to the Diablo SV. The Eccentrica stands on 19-inch alloy and is clad all around with exposed carbon fiber. The folding headlights of the original have been replaced by LED headlights that can be hidden from view by means of an electrically operated flap. LED daytime running lights? From the party.

Also striking is the interior, which has also been adapted to the smallest details. We see a cockpit with an exuberant array of digital displays with large pixels. Together with the colorful collection of large push buttons, this gives the interior a striking appearance eightiesatmosphere on. The interior is finished in carbon fiber, Alcantara, leather and aluminum.

Behind the front seats, just like in the original, is a 5.7 V12, although that machine now produces 550 hp and 600 Nm thanks to new valves and camshafts, among other things. This means that the Eccentrica sprints from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. Its top speed: 335 km/h. Thanks to the use of titanium and carbon fiber, the Eccentrica – which also has a reinforced chassis – should also be lighter than the original Diablo. Modern brakes from Brembo should be able to calm the colossus properly again. A total of 19 copies of the Eccentrica will be available in different color and material combinations. Each copy costs at least €1.2 million.
