The Ultra GT according to Lamborghini
Lamborghini has unveiled the Lanzador, a concept of the first 100 percent electric Lamborghini. It continues where the Huracan Sterrato stops. That raised version is a real sports car, this is a 2 + 2 crossover that stands high on its legs. A car that also hints a bit towards the Ferrari Purosangue. Only the Lambo Lanzador has an electric motor on each axle. The EV will be on the market as a production model in 2028.
Lamborghini already announced two years ago that it would come up with a new model line, Lamborghini’s fourth. In 2024, all Lamborghinis must have powertrains that are partly electric, so a 100 percent electric Lamborghini is in the pipeline for 2028.
The design is in the style of the brand. No surprises so far, although it is not a four-door. According to its designer, the car is inspired by what spaceships look like. We see a large tailgate and a large luggage compartment for a Lamborghini. The most practical Lambo yet? No, of course that’s the Urus!
So more crossover than SUV, that Lanzador. Which will undoubtedly be changed slightly before it is in the showroom in five years. A direct competitor also for the Lotus Eletre, the electric SUV from the English sports car brand. Lamborghini naturally mentions a new segment, that of the Ultra GT.
The dashboard has a center console that extends from the dashboard between the front seats as a kind of bridge. There is a red switch on the center console that you have to turn to start the Lambo. The passenger also has a digital display so that he can enjoy the values that the driver puts on the screen.
At the unveiling during Monterey Car Week, Lamborghini is not yet talking about the electrical performance of the two electric motors, which will enable torque vectoring. Different ride heights should reduce air resistance when the circumstances require it.
Special materials, such as stuff containing plastic fished from the sea, must keep the footprint of the new Lambo as low as possible.
