We now know what we can expect during the Apple event tonight, and those are new iPhones and Apple Watches. But there are three things you shouldn’t expect during ‘Wonderlust’.
Apple is not going to present this
We expect Apple to present at least the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2 and AirPods Pro with USB-C. That’s seven new products. There may be some surprises, but there are also some things that Apple will certainly not present during the event.
Macs with the M3 chip
Apple has been working on Macs with the M3 chip for a while now. There were previously rumors that they would be introduced in June during WWDC 2023, but that did not happen. There are no indications that Macs with the M3 chip will be announced during the Wonderlust event. So you don’t have to expect that either.
According to a recent report from Bloomberg Apple has expanded internal testing of Macs with the M3 chip. Updated versions of the 13-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac mini will be released in the future, all with the new chip. But according to analyst Ming Chi Kuo Apple will not be releasing new MacBooks this year, suggesting that only desktops will get an M3 update this year and that M3 MacBooks won’t be released until 2024.
New iPads
The last generation iPad Pro with M2 chip dates from October 2022 and the iPad Air 5 with the M1 chip from March 2022. The iPad mini has not had any updates since 2021. There are rumors that Apple is working on a redesigned iPad Pro, but it is not expected to appear until 2024. Apple is also working on a new iPad Air, but it won’t be released until October this year at the earliest.
And Apple is also working on a new version of the iPad mini, which is rumored to be released between late 2023 and early 2024. That’s why we expect both the iPad Air 6 and the iPad mini 7 next month. At least not during the Wonderlust event tonight.
USB-C AirPods 2, AirPods 3 and AirPods Max
Because the iPhone 15 probably has USB-C instead of Lightning, we also expect new USB-C accessories. The AirPods Pro 2 are rumored to be relaunched with a USB-C charging case.
Unfortunately, not all AirPods will receive the update during the Wonderlust event. Multiple sources to report that the AirPods 2, AirPods 3 and AirPods Max may not get a USB-C version until 2024. It’s also unclear whether Apple will update the wired EarPods with a USB-C connection.
