The completely redesigned Sonos app aims to unify the increasingly fragmented streaming services market. You need to know this.
Completely new Sonos app is coming
Sonos has unveiled its completely revamped Sonos app. The new app does away with the tabs at the bottom of the screen and puts everything on one home screen. That screen is faster, customizable, and has one search bar for all your streaming services (over a hundred are supported).

Sonos announced the update of the Sonos app in a press release. The launch is scheduled for May 7.
“Today’s streaming landscape is quite fragmented. Personal music libraries are spread across multiple platforms due to the rise of exclusive content, selections made by algorithms or simply the desire not to have to create the same playlist in multiple places,” says Maxime Bouvat-Merlin, Chief Product Officer at Sonos. As the only audio brand with an open platform that offers extensive options, Sonos is focused on creating one place where listeners can stream all their favorite audio. Just the way they want it. The updated app offers the most streamlined streaming experience by bringing together a whole world of content not only in one app, but even on one home screen.”

We have listed them for you.
Faster in the music (and out of the app)
In the new Sonos app, all content and operating functions are together on the same home screen. Quickly find what you’ve recently played, browse libraries and recommendations from your favorite streaming services, and listen to the music you love.
Adjust and select
Set up the Sonos app home screen so you see exactly what you need. You can pin, move and edit favorite content and streaming services, and organize it however you like.
Search any streaming library
Find an artist, song, podcast or audiobook across all your streaming services with one search using the easy-to-use search bar that’s always on your home screen.

Improved system controls
At any time, you can swipe up from the bottom of the Sonos app to control the system, access a visual overview of what’s playing, quickly group speakers, and choose the right volume.

Also a new Sonos app for the web
Sonos is also launching a new web app that can be accessed via any modern internet browser. With this app you can operate your system just as seamlessly as with the mobile app. The web app replaces the existing Sonos desktop controller and will be released, just like the updated mobile app, on May 7, 2024.
