Apple hasn’t officially announced its iPhone 16 event yet, but there’s a chance the event could happen a week early this year. Here’s why.
iPhone 16 Event
We don’t have to wait much longer, because next month Apple will reveal the iPhone 16. This year, four new iPhones will be released again: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Every year, the new generation of the iPhone is presented at a major event in the second week of September. Apple will therefore probably announce the iPhone 16 event soon.
Typically, Apple holds events on a Tuesday or Wednesday, with the annual WWDC being an exception. That means Apple announces the iPhone 16 on the second Tuesday or Wednesday of September. Up until now, the expectation was that the iPhone 16 event would be on Tuesday September 10th would take place, as Apple is not planning an announcement on September 11. According to new rumors, that date may be moved up a week.
Election debate on September 10
The presidential elections will take place in the United States in November this year. The elections are always preceded by various debates, the first of which comes quickly. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will talk to each other on Tuesday 10 September, which may be a reason for Apple to move the iPhone 16 event. MTV also decided not to organize the Video Music Awards on 10 September.
There’s a good chance that Apple doesn’t want to compete with the election debate, which is why the iPhone 16 event is indeed being brought forward. The event may already take place on Tuesday 3 or Wednesday 4 September. Monday, September 2nd seems unlikely, as that is Labor Day in the United States. An event on Tuesday or Wednesday is therefore almost certain this year.
iOS 18 may also come earlier
According to usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman, the company has already finished developing iOS 18. Apple has released the seventh test version of iOS 18, which may be the final beta of the software update. According to Gurman, developers are already busy working on iOS 18.1 through Apple Intelligence. So it seems that both iOS 18 and the iPhone 16 event could come a week earlier than expected.
However, we still have to wait a little longer, because Apple will send out the invitation for the iPhone 16 event soon. Apple usually announces the event two weeks in advance, so we will hear this or next week when the official date is. A new camera button is expected for the iPhone 16 and all iPhones will get support for Apple Intelligence this year. Do you want to know more about the next iPhone now?
