My favorite Apple product in 2024: the Apple Watch Series 10

Apple has released many new products in 2024, but the Apple Watch Series 10 is my favorite device of the year. This is why.

My product of 2024: the Apple Watch Series 10

2024 was another busy year for Apple. We saw the releases of a lot of products, including the iPhone 16, Apple Vision Pro, iPad Air 2024, iPad Pro 2024 and the iPad mini 2024. I was looking forward to the latter iPad the most, but it is surprisingly not my favorite Apple product of 2024. That is the Apple Watch Series 10, the only new smartwatch that Apple has released in 2024.

The Apple Watch Series 10 runs on the S10 chip and is incredibly fast. With a new casing and a larger screen, this is – literally – the biggest change we’ve seen in the Apple Watch in years. I wear the Apple Watch Series 10 every day, making it the most important device for me next to the iPhone. That’s why the Apple Watch Series 10 is the Apple device of the year for me.

Largest display ever

Apple has opted for a new design for the Apple Watch Series 10. The smartwatch is extremely thin with a thickness of only 9.7 millimeters. For this I wore the Apple Watch Ultra, which has a thickness of 14.4 millimeters. That difference seems small on paper, but is undoubtedly noticeable when you wear the smartwatch on your wrist. Sleeves fit easily over the Apple Watch Series 10 and the device is much more subtle.

In addition, the Apple Watch Series 10 has the largest screen we have ever seen on an Apple Watch. The smartwatch even has a larger display than the Apple Watch Ultra, which means there is little reason for me not to choose the Apple Watch Series 10. In addition, the smart watch has a new screen with a wider viewing angle, from which you can easily read the time from any angle.

Very fast fast charging

While I always put the Apple Watch Ultra (and the Apple Watch Series 8) on the charger overnight, with the Apple Watch Series 10 I had to get used to the fact that this is no longer necessary at all. The tenth generation of the smartwatch charges extremely quickly, especially compared to previous versions. The Apple Watch Series 10 is charged to eighty percent within thirty minutes, the Apple Watch Ultra takes twice as long.

It is therefore not necessary to leave the Apple Watch Series 10 on the charger all night. In fact, it is not even recommended to maintain the battery condition. It is a big advantage, because it makes it possible to charge the smartwatch in the morning. The device will then last approximately two days, depending on use. A huge plus for me, you can also wear the Apple Watch Series 10 at night to track your sleep.

Furthermore, the Apple Watch Series 10 has advanced functions such as detecting sleep apnea, measuring water temperature and improved water resistance. These are features that I don’t use often, but are useful additions to a very complete Apple Watch. The difference between the Apple Watch Series 10 and the Apple Watch Ultra (2) is very small, making the regular Apple Watch the best choice in 2024 in my opinion.
