Apple is working on iOS 19 and according to rumors, Siri gets three major improvements with the update. We put them under each other.
iOS 19
For the iPhone, iOS 19 is the most important update of 2025. With the new software version, Apple brings major changes to the iPhone. A completely new design is being brought, in which many elements of Visionos are taken over. That’s not all, because Siri gets many new functions in iOS 19. Curious which they are? We put the three important improvements for you.
1. Personalized guidance of Siri
It is clear that Siri becomes much smarter in iOS 19. The voice assistant is already being expanded with more language models due to the arrival of Apple Intelligence, but rumors are not there. It is expected that Siri will soon understand personal context. This is due to the integration of Apple’s ecosystem, from which Siri can get a lot of useful information. That way Siri can answer your questions better.
Apple has already given examples of this in the announcement of Apple Intelligence. For example, it becomes possible to ask Siri what time your mother’s flight arrives. Siri then recognizes who your mother is, finds the information about the flight in the Mail app and supplements that data with current data. Now Siri hardly recognizes this personal context, but that is changing with iOS 19.
2. Easier operation
An important part of Siri is the possibility to switch between applications. Siri is not yet able to do this yet, but this will be possible with the renewed version of the voice assistant. This way you can ask Siri to add certain photos to a note. The voting assistant has to switch between the photos and notes app for this, which is probably finally possible from iOS 19.
This improvement of Siri has a number of advantages. You can process multiple assignments in one command, so you have to ask fewer individual questions. That also means that you can use the voice assistant more easily without hands. Now you still have to open different apps and enter individual assignments at Siri, from iOS 19 that is no longer necessary. Instead, simply say ‘Siri’ or ‘Hey, Siri’, followed by your question or assignment. The voting assistant then starts working with the tasks in different apps.
3. Consciousness of the screen
Siri is now still limited from the information displayed on the screen. Since iOS 18 it has been possible to set a reminder for the data shown in an email, but that is where it also stops. This function is improved in iOS 19, because then Siri understands much better what is happening on your screen. That makes communication with the voice assistant easier and more natural.
Apple has already given an example of this at the presentation of Apple Intelligence. For example, it becomes possible to link an address directly to the sender by asking Siri. With the assignment ‘Add this address to the contact person in the contacts app’, Siri understands that it is the address shown on screen. This saves a number of actions and makes Siri a lot smarter.
Release of iOS 19
Apple has already announced a large part of these improvements, but they are still not implemented at Siri. This is due to the deferred release of Apple Intelligence, the technology only becomes available in Dutch much later. Siri does not yet work in the English variant, which has also postponed Apple to later this year. It seems almost certain that Siri with iOS 19 is getting much smarter.
The presentation of Siri 2.0 was actually much too early in 2024, because Apple was not nearly ready to release the renewed version of the voting assistant.
