WWDC 2025 starts on Monday, June 9 at 7 p.m. Dutch time. Apple shows the new version of iOS, iPados, Watchos and more during these days. That is all software, but is there also a chance that Apple with new hardware during the WWDC 2025? We think so.
Homepad: A mix of HomePod and iPad
There have been rumors for some time that Apple will come up with a new type of smart home device. This will probably be the Homepad. The name already tells it a bit, but it will be a kind of cross between a homepod and an iPad.
According to the latest rumors, this device gets a 7-inch screen and it runs on a completely new operating system with the name Homeos. What makes it extra interesting? The Homepad supports widgets that adapt to how far you get rid of, and you get a smarter version of Siri. Sounds promising, right?
And there is more: Apple apparently is working on a second smart home device. This device also gets a screen, and a kind of moving ‘robot arm’. However, this futuristic device takes a little longer. According to Gurman, it will be on the market at the earliest in two years.
More new hardware coming?
The homepad is probably the only new device you can expect. But there is a small chance that Apple will come up with something else. If that happens then this could be the airtag 2.
According to rumors, the airtag 2 gets a major upgrade, and that is mainly in the reach. Thanks to the new U2 chip, which you may already know from the iPhone 15 and 16, you will soon be able to detect your lost items up to three times further than with the current airtag.
The current airtag has a range of 10 to 25 meters, but that is spreading the U2 chip to no less than 60 meters. That means that you will soon be able to find your keys, bag or even your pet even easier and more accurately, even if they have strayed a little further away from home.
It remains to be seen for a while whether Apple actually comes with new hardware during the WWDC 2025. So keep an eye on the iPhoned website in the coming period!
