3 stolen Android functions in iOS 26
Apple presented iOS 26 on Monday 9 June, containing a large number of new functions. According to Google, three of those functions are ‘stolen’ from Android. In any case, it would be functions that have been available on Pixel smartphones for years. It’s about the functions Live translation,, ” Hold Assist and Screen calls.
Google has announced this in a video that is part of the current #Bestphones Forever series. In the video you see an iPhone and a Pixel 9 Pro Talk to each other during a fictional podcast. The iPhone says that the live translation for SMS messages, to which the Pixel 9 Pro replies that it already had that four years ago. In the same way, the Hold Assist functions and calls are discussed, which, according to the Pixel, have also been available on Android for some time. Watch the video below:
Google has a point
Live Translate appeared for the first time in 2021 on the Google Pixel 6. Just like in iOS 26, the function text messages and telephone calls can immediately translate automatically.

In 2020, Google introduced the Hold for ME function for the Pixel 3 and Nieuwer. Just like Hold Assist on iOS 26, this function can stay on the line when you are on hold, so you don’t have to pay attention. The function automatically warns you when someone comes on the line.

Screening conversations on Pixel 3 was already possible for the first time in 2018.
Whether iOS 26 has stolen these functions from Android or not, these are all functions that Google has previously added to the Pixel smartphones. Google does have a point. Whether the video that Google has made about it is fun or not, the opinions will be divided on that.
