Apple is working on major changes with the iPhone, which gives the smartphone a completely different design in 2030. This is what it looks like!
iPhone in 2030
The iPhone 17 will appear later this year, but Apple is already working on the next generations of the smartphone in the background. The company not only makes plans for the current iPhone, but is planning for years ahead. For example, Apple prepares the following anniversary for the iPhone, which has been in existence for twenty years in 2027. According to Ross Young, expert in the field of displays, we even see major changes with the iPhone up to and including 2030.
It is expected that Apple will work in the coming years to say goodbye to Dynamic Island. Earlier, the generally reliable Apple connoisseur Mark Gurman indicated that the Dynamic Island on the iPhones of 2026 is becoming a battle smaller. Young confirms this now and goes one step further. He shares his expectations for the iPhones from the coming years, up to and including 2030. According to him, these changes are coming:
Dynamic Island disappears
In any case, it is clear that Apple is planning to release an iPhone, the front of which consists completely of display. That means that there are no more offenses for the front camera and the Face ID sensor. When this iPhone appears is less clear. According to Gurman, this iPhone will come in 2027, but Young expects the iPhone to be released without Dynamic Island until 2030.
According to Young, Apple needs a few more years to eliminate the front camera and the Face ID sensor under the screen. These parts are still hidden in the Dynamic Island, but ultimately have to disappear completely. According to its timeline in 2028, the Face ID sensor is placed under the screen, so that only a cancellation for the front camera is required. Only in 2030 the front camera will also be hidden under the screen with the iPhone.
More and more screen
The iPhone will therefore look completely different in the coming years, due to the disappearance of the Dynamic Island. We will probably see the first changes next year, if the feature becomes a blow smaller with the iPhone 18 Pro (Max). Only in 2028 does the Dynamic Island disappear completely. Instead, we see a small notch in the left corner of the iPhone screen, in front of the front camera of the device. In 2030 an iPhone will follow without notches. The screen of the iPhone is getting bigger and bigger.
This is not the most important change with the iPhone, because Apple is said to work on a glass smartphone. The new design of iOS 26 with Liquid Glass may already give a taste of this glass iPhone.
