One of the most important new features of iOS 18 is Apple Intelligence. This is Apple’s new technology, which works with artificial intelligence. Almost all applications on your iPhone, iPad and Mac (book) are expanded with Apple Intelligence. This way you get a handy writing aid that can summarize, rewrite and improve your texts. That’s not all, because Apple Intelligence can also create images for you.
In addition, Siri is expanded with more language models, which means that Apple’s speech assistant communicates much more natural and smoother. Through Chatgpt integration, Siri also answers almost all your questions. Apple Intelligence therefore provides many more functions, but not all iPhones have support for the new technology. These iPhones have support
Apple Intelligence only comes to iPhones that have an A17 Pro chip or newer. That means that you need at least an iPhone 15 Pro to use Apple Intelligence. All tasks of Apple Intelligence require a lot of computing power and more memory, which only have the newer processors in recent iPhones. These iPhones have support for Apple Intelligence:

- iPhone 16th
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
- iPhone 17 (expected)
- iPhone 17 Air (expected)

Do you have an iPhone 15 (plus) or older? Then your iPhone does not work with Apple Intelligence. These iPhones do get the latest software versions, but all Apple Intelligence functions are missing. That means that the devices can still update to the latest generations of iOS. To gain access to all Apple Intelligence features, an iPhone with a newer processor is required.
Release of Apple Intelligence
Do you already have an iPhone 15 Pro or newer? In that case your iPhone will be expanded later with Apple Intelligence. The new technology is already available in the Netherlands and Belgium, but for that you have to convert the language on the iPhone to English. It is still unclear when Apple Intelligence will be rolled out in Dutch. Apple gradually releases the new software all over the world.
