Do you use an iPhone or iPad? Apple offers a number of applications as standard that can be used for free on the smartphone and tablet. One of them is the Measures app, which is directly on your iPhone and iPad after installation. With the application you can – as the name suggests – measure objects. You no longer need a measuring tape with the Measures app, instead you use your iPhone or iPad.
Have you installed the measurement app on your iPhone or iPad? In that case you can use your smart device to measure the size of objects. That’s not all, because you can also measure the length of a person with the application. The dimensions of rectangular objects are also automatically displayed. This is how the Measuring app works
Do you have to measure something soon? You no longer need a measuring tape for that, because the measurement app from Apple works properly. The length measured by the iPhone corresponds to the actual distance. That means that you can trust the measurement app of the iPhone and iPad, but make sure you start measuring at the right point. Curious how you do that? This is how you use Apple’s measurement app:
- Open ‘Measure’ on your iPhone or iPad;
- Tap ‘Measure’ at the bottom;
- Move your iPhone to start;
- Aim the white circle on the corner of the object that you want to measure;
- Tap the plus (+) to secure the starting point;
- Aim the white circle at the next point;
- Tap the Plus (+) again to see the distance between the points.
Have you measured the length of a certain object? You can easily save this distance by taking a photo in the measurement app on the iPhone and iPad. You do this by tapping the white circle in the right corner while measuring. The measured distance is then recorded on the image. This way you do not have to write or remember these measuring points individually, but you can see them later on the photos.
Accurate
Are you going to use your iPhone or iPad as a measuring tape? Please note that you put the starting point of the measurement exactly in the right place, so that you know for sure that the size of the object is correctly measured. It is important to be accurate, otherwise you will soon come out on too large or too small. It is therefore wise to perform the measurement twice in order to reduce the chance of errors.
Do you have an iPhone 12 Pro (Max) or newer? Or an iPad Pro from 2020 or later? In that case, the Measures app works even more accurately, because these devices have and Lidar scanner.
