iPhone 17 Pro vs 17 Pro Max
Apple presented the iPhone 17 series on September 9, 2025. Like every year, the question is what exactly the differences are between the new Pro models. We list them for you.
Screen size
Of course the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a larger screen than the iPhone 17 Pro. The Pro has a 6.3-inch screen with a resolution of 2622 x 1206 pixels. The Pro Max screen measures 6.9 inches and has a resolution of 2868 x 1320 pixels.
No new camera features
So far, Apple usually distinguishes its pro models by means of special camera features. The Pro Max model often received a new camera function a year earlier than its smaller brother. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 5x optical zoom and the smaller Pro model a 3x zoom. However, this is no longer the case with the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Both devices have the same camera functions.
Longer battery life
The iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max have become even thicker this year to accommodate a larger battery. Wash the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) 8.25 mm thick, the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) is more no less than 8.75 mm thick! This means that both the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max have a larger battery.
A full battery is with the iPhone 16 Pro good for 27 hours of playing video and at the iPhone 16 Pro Max Play video for 33 hours. With the iPhone 17 Pro Can you play for 31 hours of video and with the iPhone 17 Pro Max No less than 37 hours. Both iPhone 17 Pro models therefore last 4 hours longer, but the iPhone 17 Pro still does not get the 33 hours of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
More storage space
Another difference between the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max is that with the latter you have the option to choose even more storage space. These are the options that both models have:
- 256 GB
- 512 GB
- 1 TB
If you choose the iPhone 17 Pro Max, you also have the option to choose 2 TB. You also pay 2479 euros for that and that is currently the most expensive iPhone version you can buy.

If you want to purchase the iPhone 17 Pro (Max), we recommend that you install a pre-order. That is possible from Friday 12 September at 2 p.m.. You will then receive the device on Friday 19 September. At that moment the new iPhones also appear in the store. Nevertheless, we recommend ordering them, because especially in the beginning the demand is high and the stock is limited!
