Now that the new iPhone has been presented, for many people the question is whether it is worth switching. We compare the iPhone 17 with the iPhone 16 to help you with this question.

Housing

With 6.3 inches, the new iPhone 17 has a slightly larger screen than the iPhone 16 (6.1 inch). As a result, the dimensions of the 17 are slightly larger, although it does not save a lot: 149.6 x 71.5 x 7.95 mm compared to 147.6 x 71.6 x 7.80 mm. The iPhone 17 is also 7 grams heavier (177 grams compared to 170 grams).

Both iPhones are available in black and white, but also the devices both three other colors. The 17 is available in lavender, saliegroen and mist -blue, the 16 in the brighter colors of ultramarine, blue green and pink.

Screen

The iPhone 17 therefore has a screen of 6.3 inches with a resolution of 2622 x 1206 pixels. For comparison: the 6.1-inch screen of the iPhone 16 has a resolution of 2556 x 1179 pixels. Furthermore, the screen of the 17 is equipped with promotion and the Always-on function. The iPhone 16 does not have this.

Camera

The camera of the iPhone 17 has also been improved compared to that of the iPhone 16. The 17 has a 48-MP Dual Fusion camera system, which consists of a 48-MP Fusion main camera and a 48-MP Fusion ultrag whergle. The 16 has a 48 -MP Fusion main camera and a 12 -MP Ultragwood angle. That is also the only difference between the two camera systems.

Furthermore, the front camera of the iPhone 17 has improved considerably. The iPhone 16 has a 12-MP camera there, the iPhone 17 has 18-MP camera with Center Stage. The latter helps to automatically see everyone. Also new is the Dual Capture function, with which you can film the cameras on both sides at the same time.

Performance

As expected, the iPhone 17 has a new processor, namely the A19 chip. The iPhone 16 runs on the predecessor (A18 chip). The amount of working memory, on the other hand, has not increased and is 8 GB on both devices. This is sufficient for the support of Apple Intelligence. Incidentally, the iPhone 17 is not available with 128 GB. You can only choose from 256 GB, and 512 GB. The iPhone 16 has the 128 GB option.

Battery

What is also common is that the new iPhone has a slightly more powerful battery. This time too. The iPhone 17 has a battery with a capacity of 3692 mAh, which is 3561 mAh of the iPhone 16. Partly thanks to the more efficient chip, the battery life of the iPhone 17 rises considerably: playing video up to 30 hours compared to 22 hours of playing video.

Conclusion: iPhone 17 vs iPhone 16

Switching from an iPhone 16 to an iPhone 17 is not so much sense. If you do it, you will get a slightly larger screen with always-on, a faster processor, an improved camera and a longer battery life. And maybe you like the new colors. If you have an older iPhone, it is slightly different because the differences are a lot bigger. For example, you also have no support for Apple Intelligence.
