iOS 18.7
Apple has released a series of major updates! The most important software versions of the year have appeared, because you can install iOS 26, iPados 26, MacOS 26, Watchos 26 and TVOS 26. With these major updates, all Apple devices get a new interface and many more functions. Unfortunately, this does not apply to all devices, because a number of devices get stuck on the previous software version.
That also applies to a number of iPhones, which do not work with iOS 26. Do you still have an iPhone XR, iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max? In that case you cannot install iOS 26, because these devices get stuck on iOS 18. For these iPhones and older models, Apple has now released iOS 18.7, which is a very important update. With the new software version, Apple ensures that the security of the iPhone is in order, so it is wise to install the update as quickly as possible.
Important update
With iOS 18.7, Apple does not bring new functions to your iPhone. Instead, problems with the protection of the device are solved. It is therefore important to install the update directly, so that you are sure that your iPhone will remain well protected. Does your iPhone have no support for iOS 26? In that case you will find the interim security update as follows:
- Open ‘settings’ on your iPhone;
- Go to ‘General’;
- Tap ‘software update’.
- Finally, install iOS 18.7.
For the iPhone XR, iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max, iOS 18.7 is probably one of the latest new software versions. The telephones are no longer provided with new functions, but will still receive security updates in the coming years. These appear only once in a while when Apple discovers an important problem with security. It is therefore advice to always immediately install these interim updates before malicious abuse has taken the vulnerability.
No more new functions
Do you still have an iPhone XR, iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max? Or an iPhone from an earlier year? Then you no longer have to expect new functions on your iPhone. To use all improvements, the renewed interface and the new functions of iOS 26 you need an iPhone 11 or newer. These devices have on Monday, September 15, 2025 received the update to iOS 26, which is the biggest update in years. You cannot install iOS 18.7 on those iPhones.
