Dangers of Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence is finally available in Dutch! We had to wait a long time for all the new features, because Apple already announced them in June 2024. Apple Intelligence has been available in English for some time, but that is no longer necessary. Are you planning to activate Apple Intelligence directly on your iPhone? Then be careful with these four dangers of Apple Intelligence for your iPhone!
1. Lots of storage space
To use Apple Intelligence on your iPhone, you need a lot of RAM and storage space. Apple Intelligence only works on iPhones with 8 GB RAM, which is the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) and newer. In addition, you need at least 7 GB of free storage space to install all the new Apple Intelligence features on your iPhone. That is one of the dangers of Apple Intelligence, because it uses up your iPhone’s storage space much faster.
To download the basic features of Apple Intelligence you need 7 GB of storage space. Are you installing more language models or using more Apple Intelligence features? This can then increase to as much as 12 GB of storage space. Once you have downloaded Apple Intelligence, these language models will remain on your iPhone, even if you disable all functions again. So keep that in mind, because you will permanently lose at least 7 GB or more if you activate Apple Intelligence.
2. Apple Intelligence Beta
Apple itself emphasizes that this is still a test version of Apple Intelligence. This means that the final version is not yet finished, which increases the chance that Apple Intelligence will make mistakes. In the Apple Intelligence settings, Apple even warns that the technique can generate incorrect, unexpected or offensive results. It is therefore wise to check important information for accuracy.
Keep this in mind when you activate Apple Intelligence on your iPhone. With the help of Apple Intelligence you can get answers to your questions, compose emails and have texts rewritten, but this is not without dangers. There is a chance of errors, so it is advisable to always check Apple Intelligence. So pay attention, because this is not yet the final version of Apple Intelligence.
3. Waiting for more features
Apple Intelligence is finally available in Dutch, but this does not apply to all functions. You can only use a limited number of the features in Dutch, including the Writing Assistant and Image Playground. Many other components have not yet been rolled out in the Netherlands and Belgium. For example, we have to do without Live translation with the AirPods and Live transcripts for telephone conversations, while these are available in English.
So you can activate Apple Intelligence, but all functions are not yet available in Dutch. We have to wait for the release of all parts for the time being, it is not known when Apple will roll them out in the Netherlands and Belgium. Therefore, check in advance whether the features you want to try out are available here. Isn’t that the case? Then wait a little longer before enabling Apple Intelligence to save on your storage space.
4. Shorter battery life
The Apple Intelligence functions that are available in Dutch are run locally on your iPhone. This way you can be sure that your data does not end up on an external Apple or OpenAI server. That is a major advantage of Apple Intelligence, because your privacy is not at risk with the new functions. However, it also has a disadvantage, because running commands locally is even harder on your iPhone’s battery.
All Apple Intelligence tasks are processed on the iPhone itself, which causes the device to consume more energy. The more often you use Apple Intelligence functions, the faster the battery drains. This is certainly a danger from Apple Intelligence with older iPhones, because earlier processors have more difficulty processing heavy tasks. With Apple Intelligence you get many additional features, but this does have a negative effect on the battery life of your iPhone.

Are you planning to activate Apple Intelligence on your iPhone? Then beware of these four dangers, because Apple Intelligence requires a lot of storage space and still regularly makes mistakes.
