Spotify added the timer to the application years ago. Since 2019, you can use the button to stop Spotify automatically. This is especially useful if you listen to the music service before you go to sleep, with the button you prevent Spotify from continuing to play audio all night long. Set timer at Spotify
Setting a timer is possible for all audio files in Spotify. For songs, audiobooks and podcasts, you can set an end time to prevent the audio from playing unnecessarily long. This is not only useful before you go to sleep, but also if you have to leave after a certain time, for example. With the timer, the audio stops automatically at the moment you choose. You can find the Spotify button as follows:
- Open the Spotify app;
- Go to a playlist of your choice and tap a song to play;
- At the bottom of the screen, tap the menu bar with the song title;
- Choose the three lines at the bottom right of the screen;
- Go to ‘Timer’;
- Finally, select the duration of the timer.
When setting the timer you can choose 5, 10, 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes. It is also possible to choose the ‘End of song’, so that Spotify automatically stops after the current song. With audiobooks and podcasts, the Spotify button is less well hidden, where the timer is standard next to the buttons for rewinding, pausing and continuing the audio.
