Apple AirTag 2 vs UGREEN Finder Pro: which one is right for you?

The AirTag 2 and the UGREEN Finder Pro are both handy trackers that work in much the same way. They support Apple’s Find My network and are therefore truly competitors. We list the differences for you.

Design

The first thing you notice when you put both trackers side by side is that the AirTag looks a lot more subtle than the Finder Pro. The latter is not only square, but also larger and thicker than the AirTag. There is already an ‘eye’ on it, so you can easily hang the Finder Pro on a key ring, for example, without having to buy a case for it first. That is not possible with the AirTag. The AirTag is then easier to hide somewhere.

Battery

This is one of the most important differences between the AirTag 2 and the Finder Pro. And while both manufacturers indicate that the battery lasts about a year. So that’s not the big difference. The difference is that with the AirTag you can replace the battery after a year and with the Finder Pro you can charge the battery after a year.

Because the UGREEN Finder Pro is larger than the AirTag 2, there is room for a USB C connection. It is nicely covered with a rubber lid. If you receive a message after almost a year that the battery is almost empty, all you have to do is plug in the Finder Pro and charge it, a USB cable is included. You will then need to replace the battery with the AirTag 2. There is something to be said for both, it just depends on what you prefer.

Find my

Like the AirTag 2, the Finder Pro is easy to install and immediately visible in the Find My app. The AirTag appears as an AirTag, the UGREEN appears as an object. Basically everything works the same on both trackers, with the exception of Precise Search. This is only possible with the AirTag. However, you can have the Finder Pro play a sound when you’re nearby. The battery level of the AirTag is only visible in the app when the battery is almost empty. With the Finder Pro you can always see the status of the battery (and you can charge it immediately if that suits you).

Prices AirTag 2 and UGREEN Finder Pro

The AirTag 2 is cheaper than its predecessor, but compared to other trackers, the AirTag is still relatively expensive. You can currently buy one for €34.99. The recommended retail price of the UGREEN Finder Pro is 39.99 euros for a 4-pack. That is already a lot cheaper, but at Amazon you now only pay 29.99 euros for a 4-pack.

Conclusion: AirTag 2 vs UGREEN Finder Pro

Both trackers do what they are supposed to do. Which one to choose depends on the small differences. Do you find the small round shape and the precise search of the AirTag important and do you have no problem with having to replace the battery every year? Or do you find charging via USB C and the visibility of the battery level important and can you live with the larger shape and the lack of Accurate Search? In the first case you choose the AirTag, in the second case the Finder Pro.

But of course the price can also play a significant role. If you need multiple trackers and don’t want to spend too much money, you will probably choose the UGREEN.
