The Jeep Grand Wagoneer has already been presented in an almost production-ready concept form in 2020, but the production version is still waiting. Not for long: the Jeep giant is due to appear on March 11. The regular Wagoneer also makes its appearance.
Jeep reinforces its words with the teaser video below, although it does not show much more than a tunnel and some headlights. It doesn’t matter either, because with the Grand Wagoneer Concept we already have a very good idea of how the car will look. Count on exactly the same car, but perhaps with a little less ‘bling’.
Jeep launches the Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer at the same time. With good reason, because in fact it is the same car. Everything indicates that the Grand Wagoneer is nothing more or less than a more luxurious, more ‘premium’ version of the regular Wagoneer. The format of both cars is the same.
That means that both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are likely to come in a short and a longer L version, as is the case with the smaller Grand Cherokee. The Wagoneer sits on the Ram 1500 pickup chassis and competes with similar body-on-frame SUVs.
In addition, the Wagoneer competes with the more ‘mainstream’ models in that segment, such as the Chevrolets Tahoe and Suburban (Wagoneer L) and the Ford Expedition. The Grand Wagoneer finds the more luxurious brothers of these models in its path, which are also in fact thicker dressed variants of the same thing with the competition. At General Motors it is about the GMC Yukon Denali and the Cadillac Escalade, at Ford about the Lincoln Navigator.
We will know everything on March 11th.
