BMW i4 dons M suit

The fully electric BMW i4 made its debut a month ago and then appeared in its basic form. In China, however, BMW is now also showing the i4 with M Sport package.

With the i4, BMW not only wants to attract EV drivers to its mid-range segment, but also enthusiasts of sporty cars. According to the brand, the i4 must ‘steer like a real BMW’ and earlier this year it was already shown that you can go wild with it. Of course the eye also wants something and so the M-department was allowed to work on the appearance of the i4.

The preliminary first result is the M Sport package with which the i4 shown here is equipped. Compared to the normal i4, it clearly looks a lot sportier. At the front, a completely different bumper with larger ‘air intakes’ ensures this, among other things. It is striking that the layout is completely different from the front bumper of the M3 and M4. The same happens at the rear, because here too, a thicker rear bumper specially drawn for the i4 ensures a sportier appearance. There are of course also numerous M badges and the element on the sides that runs from the front screen under the doors to the rear has been adjusted. Finally, the i4 is enthroned on new light metal and that gives it perhaps the most a different look than the basic i4; After all, at the unveiling it stood on special extra aerodynamic wheels, which emphasize the electric and not so much the sporty aspect of the car.

It remains to be seen whether the M division will eventually also come up with a full-fledged M version of the i4. In terms of performance, the i4 also has enough in house to add luster to the sportier appearance. The most powerful version that has been announced to date, delivers 530 hp and thus spears the i4 from a standstill to 100 km / h in about 4 seconds.
