Two entry-level models with a price well below 150 euros. The Chinese TCL is working to make its range even more accessible to a large audience. Today the brand launches the TCL 20 Y and TCL 205.
TCL 20 Y
After it was the turn of the South American and African markets, among others, it is now our turn to receive the TCL 20 Y. With 139.99 euros, the device is an interesting option for people who are looking for a cheap smartphone.
The TCL 20 Y has a 6.52” HD+ LCD panel, something we often see in this price range. At the heart of the device beats an Octa-Core processor with 4 GB of RAM. This is the MediaTek Helio A25. An ‘entry-level processor’ that is comparable to, for example, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450. A processor that we can find in the Samsung Galaxy M11, among others.
On the back of the TCL 20 Y rests a triple camera system consisting of a 48 MP main sensor, a 2 MP depth sensor and a 2 MP macro camera. In addition, the device has no less than 22 different scene optimizations. The device owes this to, as TCL calls it itself, ‘AI Scene Detection 2.0’. Scenes to consider are: food, plants, sky, text, macro, snow and sunset. By the way, you can store all your photos on the 64GB of storage that the device is rich or via the microSD slot.
TCL 205
Do you want a smartphone under 100 euros? Then there is a good chance that you will at least consider TCL 205. With its 99.99 euros you can rightfully speak about a low-budget model. For this money, the device has a 6.22” HD+ LCD panel and a plastic back that should resemble brushed metal because of its structure, according to TCL. If we look further on the back of the device, we see two cameras. This is a 13MP variant assisted by a 2MP depth sensor. Finally, the device has an octa-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage space and a 4000 mAh battery. The device runs on Android 11 Go, a modified version of Android that is especially suitable for phones with less powerful specifications.

The TCL 20 Y will be available from the end of October for 139.99 euros at Bol.com and Belsimpel in the colors ‘Jewelry Black’ and ‘Jewelry Blue’. You can purchase the TCL 205 for 99.99 euros in the color Power Gray or Atlantic Blue. This device will also be available from October at Bol.com and Belsimpel.
